Unit 4: Procurement and Management Support

Study Questions

When reading, viewing, and listening, consider the following questions. You will need to do your own research to find some of the answers.

  1. What is a cost–benefit analysis?
  2. What considerations go into a green, or sustainable, calculation of costs and benefits?
  3. What is the difference between direct and indirect procurement?
  4. What does the tendering process involve, and how can green ICT considerations be factored into the process?
  5. What steps are involved in procurement?
  6. What might be included in a green procurement policy?
  7. What are the six mandatory environmental standards required by the Australian Government ICT Sustainability Plan?
  8. What do the Australian, Canadian, and United States government procurement policies have in common? How are they different? How might your organization apply some of the practices outlined in these policies?
  9. If you do not live in one of the countries named in the previous question, compare your national procurement standards with those of the three counties mentioned above. Share your observations in the General Discussion Forum.
