Instructions and Deliverables

The format used to produce, document, and submit your assignment is optional, but should be according to one of the following two options.

  • Option 1: Written recipe and video components. The ideal format for documenting and submitting your assignment includes two components: a written recipe, and a video reproducing the whole cooking process that includes the oral narration of the cooking process.
    • The written recipe must include the description of your recipe and instructions about how to cook it. The recipe should include the following parts written in Spanish, using complete, grammatically correct sentences.
      • The name of the dish you are preparing
      • A brief description of the dish you are cooking
      • The list of ingredients and quantities
      • The procedure used to cook the dish you are preparing. This will be a step-by-step explanation of the whole cooking process, from the beginning until the end. In other words, if someone else reads your recipe, they will be able to cook your dish.
    • The video has to capture the key stages for the preparation of your recipe while you are cooking it. The video also has to include your oral narration, which has to reproduce, as much as possible, the written component.

You must submit both the Word file, with the written component; and a video file, including the cooking process and your narration.

  • Option 2: Written, picture, and narration components. This format for documenting and submitting your assignment includes three components: a written recipe, pictures that illustrate the entire cooking process, and an oral narration of the whole process.

The procedure used to cook the dish you are preparing. This will be a step-by-step explanation of the whole cooking process, from the beginning until the end. In other words, if someone else reads your recipe, they will be able to cook your dish.

    • The pictures must capture the whole cooking process, which will be used to illustrate the written component.
    • The oral narration must be a recording of all of the components you included in your written recipe.

      Your submission can either:

      1. Include a Word file of the written component with the pictures embedded. Submit the recording of your narration in a separate file. Record the oral narration with the software/device you prefer, or use Audacity. In either case, do not forget to convert your audio file to MP3 format.
      2. Include all your components in a PowerPoint file, where you can integrate the written recipe, pictures to illustrate the cooking process, and embedded audio files of your oral narration.

Either of these options are OK, as long as you include all of the components described above.
